The Exhibition runs from 6 April - 5 May 2019
Vibrant colours and textures abound in the current exhibition, ‘Abstracted’ at Fidra Fine Art, a cosy, intimate gallery on Gullane’s Main Street. An ambitious showing of the work of 7 artists, it is the gallery’s third small group show this year. Works by John Brown, Dominique Cameron, Alison Dunlop, Simon Laurie, Christopher Wood as well as ceramics from Lucy Dunce are showcased.
With the fresh colours of spring aplenty in the neighbouring East Lothian countryside, the exhibition is timely in continuing a celebration of vibrant colour.
Gullane may not be the first destination when thinking of a gallery visit but with beautiful beaches, renowned links courses, it is certainly an idyllic destination for a day out. Nearby cafes, bars and restaurants as well as interesting independent shops are enticing visitors from near and far.
Art collector turned gallery owner and curator, Alan Rae, has established a welcoming and attractive exhibition space in a traditional High Street setting. Following 6 years of trading from his house in North Berwick, Fidra Fine Art feels established as a Gullane fixture.
Pieces by Christopher Wood featuring in the exhibition are inspired by the landscape around his East Lothian home giving a real connection to the local soil. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, his work gives a rugged earthy texture with the clever addition of torn cloth. There is a sense of raw honesty that is captivating.
Serious art buyers and the curious visitor cannot fail to be intrigued by the stunning Abstracted exhibition. Catch the exhibition before the show’s close on 5 May. You will be certain to be captivated by the range of colours and tempting textures.
